Here Are the Updates & Changes to the 2024 Ford F-150 Truck

2024 Ford F-150

Ford launched a refresh of its iconic F-150 pickup truck in 2024, bringing a wave of exciting changes to this longstanding favorite. With a contemporary exterior makeover and a revamped interior, it’s a significant update since the 2021 model hit the scene three years ago. We’ve been closely following the development of the 2024 F-150, catching glimpses of its various iterations.

Visually, the 2024 Ford F-150 lineup will be characterized by two distinct grille designs. The XL, XLT, and Tremor models are set to receive a unique grille and headlamp setup, featuring a wraparound design that integrates the headlights and grille. Additionally, expect larger amber lighting elements that might serve as driving lights, replacing the clear LED setup from the previous model. Ford’s emblem is also getting a makeover, going flat with a white script instead of silver, a change that will extend to its global lineup.

Moving up the trim ladder to the Lariat and higher, you’ll find a different grille design with clear LED lighting elements, further dividing the headlights into distinct sections. The turn signals for these models are likely to become clear as well, and the front bumper and lower fog lights have received revisions for a fresh look.

For those with a need for high-performance, the Raptor R variant sports a new grille design with a subtly altered “FORD” script, accentuated by bold lines to make a statement. Both Raptor models will also feature a new modular front bumper, although its availability as standard or optional remains unclear. A new side graphic and revised tail lamp design with more red and less clear sections give the Raptor variants an aggressive visual edge.

Inside the 2024 Ford F-150, you can expect a revamped infotainment center with two prototype layouts already spotted. One configuration boasts a generously sized vertical screen, while another features a horizontal orientation. Software-wise, the truck will likely introduce a revamped version of Sync 4, and there’s speculation about the introduction of a new Google-based system. The dashboard design closely mirrors that of the 2023 Ford Super Duty, offering a familiar feel.

In terms of driver-assist features, BlueCruise is set to become standard on more models, with most trims offering a 90-day trial of the hands-free driving tech. The 2024 F-150 is also expected to introduce a multifunction tailgate to stay competitive. This tailgate may feature three separate sections, with a side-hinged swing door in the center, operable via the key fob, physical controls, or the infotainment screen, as suggested by a Ford patent filed in early 2022. A recent teaser hints at an alternative design, with a folding inner section flanked by the larger tailgate assembly, suggesting the possibility of multiple tailgate options.

Simplification is the name of the game with the 2024 F-150, as it will have 2,400 fewer parts than its predecessor, aligning with Ford’s plan to streamline its ICE lineup. This could lead to significant changes in the powertrain options, much like the revamped engine lineup introduced in the 2023 Ford Super Duty. Expect a simplified, more efficient powertrain selection.

In addition to these changes, Ford might introduce a new Lobo variant with distinct aesthetics and a lower ride height. A new hybrid variant is also rumored to be in the pipeline, catering to eco-conscious consumers. Specialty models like the Heritage Edition, optional on XLT trims, are expected to continue within the lineup.

Production of the 2024 Ford F-150 is anticipated to take place at the Kansas City Assembly and the Dearborn Truck plant. With these updates and innovations, the 2024 F-150 is poised to continue its legacy as one of the most iconic and beloved pickup trucks in the automotive world.
