This stunning 1996 Ford F-150 XL proves that even low-mile work trucks are getting tons of much deserved love these days.

For the most part, when we come across low-mile pickups, they’re of the well-optioned, vintage variety. This makes sense of course, as those are the types of trucks that collectors covet – not bare-bones work trucks. But that’s precisely what makes this 1996 Ford F-150 XL so intriguing, as it offers precisely nothing in terms of frills, though there are many truck fans who like that sort of thing – us included. Now, it’s up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, where it will most certainly sell for more than its original sticker price.

With an incredibly low 1,200 original miles showing on the odometer, this amazing 1996 Ford F-150 XL stayed with its original owner until 2021, when it was acquired by the seller. Now, it’s up for grabs in a unique shade dubbed Light Saddle Clearcoat Metallic, and it looks quite literally like brand new, aside from a single noted scratch. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think we had just hopped off a time traveling machine of some sort when we look at this thing.

As one might imagine, the interior of this basic pickup is every bit as fresh, covered in a tan shade dubbed Mocha with a bench seat that sports a patterned insert, though a set of Eddie Bauer floor mats has been added as a nice upgrade. There’s also carpeting, at least, as well as air conditioning, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette radio, though also old fashioned crank windows. Regardless, this is a truly stunning cabin, indeed.

The same goes for the ultra-sanitary engine bay, which is a good indication of this truck’s true mileage. There, you’ll find Ford’s venerable 5.0-liter V8, which was factory rated to produce 205 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

This particular pickup had an original MSRP of $18,084, and yet, has already been bid past that mark with several days to go, proving that there’s plenty of interest in any time capsule of a pickup, even if it is devoid of any sort of frills.
