This 1966 Ford Mustang coupe offers up plenty of desirable features as it crosses the virtual block at Bring a Trailer.

Restomods are all the rage these days, and for good reason ā€“ they combine the best of both worlds, with timeless, vintage styling and modern mechanicals that offer plenty of performance and reliability. The Ford Mustang has been a very popular basis for many restomods over the years, which isnā€™t a huge surprise given how popular Fordā€™s iconic pony car remains. Now, this 1966 Ford Mustang coupe continues that trend by offering up plenty of desirable features as it crosses the virtual block at Bring a Trailer.

Some might decry the fact that this 1966 Ford Mustang coupe has been modified at all, but in all fairness, it began life with a straight-six-cylinder powerplant under the hood and isnā€™t some rare or supremely valuable model by any stretch of the imagination. Instead, the owner gave it a total makeover back in 2007, which started on the outside with a fresh paint job consisting of a blue base with silver stripes and red accents.

There is some custom bodywork to note as well, including filled fender seams, shaved window moldings, drip rails, and door handles, a flush-mounted windshield and rear glass, Lexus door pull inserts, integrated bumpers, and a flush-mounted fuel door. Other notable touches include a new front grille design, Shelby-style side scoops and taillights, and HID taillights, as well as chrome 17-inch Cragar wheels wrapped with Sumitomo tires.

Inside the cabin, this vintage Mustang was updated with the dashboard, steering column, gauge cluster, and steering wheel from an S197-gen model, along with bucket seats, custom door panels, a Pioneer touchscreen radio, air conditioning, a one-piece suede headliner, power windows and locks, aftermarket gauges, and a full-length center console fitted with push-button controls for the C4 automatic transmission.

Under the hood, this ā€™66 Mustang is powered by a Ford 302 cubic-inch V8 thatā€™s been treated to an Edelbrock intake manifold and aftermarket carb, a Mach 1-style shaker hood scoop, an aluminum radiator, Cobra-branded valve covers, and headers. A series of aftermarket suspension components shore up the handling and lower the car a bit, while four-wheel disc brakes bring it to a halt.

For a build that was done 15 years ago, this ā€™66 Mustang restomod still looks to be in fantastic condition, and it hasnā€™t aged a bit in our humble opinion. Now, itā€™ll look for a new owner who can drive and enjoy it for many years to come.
