2022 Ford F 150 Tremor Becomes 40 Millionth In F Series History
The Ford F-Series has been America’s best-selling truck for 45 straight years and has built a lot of Ford F-150 and Ford Super Duty pickups over that time – 40 million to be exact.

The Ford F-Series has been America’s best-selling truck for 45 straight years, as well as its best-selling vehicle – period – for four consecutive decades. This is obviously a monumental achievement, but it also means that Ford has built a lot of Ford F-150 and Ford Super Duty pickups over that timeframe – 40 million to be exact, as this Iconic Silver 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor that just rolled off the assembly line at the Ford Dearborn Truck Plant represents one heck of a milestone.

To celebrate this occasion, Ford brought along a first-gen 1950 F1 pickup as the F-Series originally entered production in 1947 – exactly 75 years ago. Back then, buyers could choose between the F1, F2, F3, and F4, though the first-generation spanned just a few model years – 1948-1952 – before the F-Series nomenclature changed to three letters, which has been the case ever since. This 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor is a nice representation of just how far these iconic trucks have come over the last three-quarters of a century. Fittingly, it’s headed to a customer in Texas, who plans to use it for work purposes.

Ford F-Series Q4 2021 United States Sales Numbers

As of last April, there were 16.1 million F-Series pickups populating U.S. roads, an astounding number that further exemplifies the model’s popularity. Considering the fact that Ford sells hundreds of thousands of them each year, however, it isn’t terribly surprising. Last year, Ford sold a grand total of 726,004 F-Series pickups – which was down 7.8 percent over 2020’s 787,422 units – though that can be directly blamed on the chip shortage and resulting production cuts.

While the F-Series remains a popular new vehicle, the F-150 is also a hugely popular target in the used market as well, as it was iSeeCars’ most popular used vehicle of 2021, and earned Vincentric’s 2022 CPO Value Award in the light-duty pickup segment. Fresh off the launch of the all-new 2021 Ford F-150, the current-gen model isn’t expected to receive a refresh until 2025.
