Ford stopped taking orders for the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E back in April as demand exceeded the automaker’s production capacity, effectively meaning that the EV crossover was sold out until the 2023 model year. Thus, there are likely some folks waiting for 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E order banks to open, giving them their chance to secure a new one in a manner that doesn’t involve trying to hunt down a 2022 on dealer lots. Now we know when they’ll get that chance, as sources familiar with the matter say that 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E order banks are scheduled to open on August 15th, 2022.
Production is scheduled follow a couple of months later at the Cuautitlan Assembly plant in Mexico on October 31st, though as always, these dates are subject to change, particularly as Ford continues to battle various supply chain issues. Regardless, for now, those looking to order a 2023 Mustang Mach-E can circle those dates on their calendars in pencil.
Ford is taking a continuous year-to-year improvement approach to its EV crossover, which saw an increase in useable battery capacity and range in 2022 – just its second year of production – though that improvement is not available on 2021 models. Thus, it’s possible that the 2023 Mach-E could get its own update to increase range, too. Additionally, earlier this month, Ford CEO Jim Farley said that the EV crossover is “due for a major software update later this year that will refresh the entire interface displayed on the screens in the car.”
Ford recently announced that it will double its battery supply for the Mach-E by 2023, which will help it boost output to 200,000 units annually by next year as well, which should help the automaker get a little closer to producing enough units to satisfy current demand.
