Ford Accessories has been a booming business for Ford in recent years as more and more people are looking to customize their vehicle, particularly with OEM parts or those developed in partnership with that particular automotive manufacturer. Years ago, many of those official Ford Accessories were focused around on-road performance, but in recent times, off-road-oriented vehicles have become incredibly popular too, spawning a whole new line in Ford’s official catalog driven by customer demand.
“Off road – it’s partially driven by our mix of vehicles. We were talking about our new vehicles coming out like the new F-150, Ranger, and Maverick. So we are moving our focus out of the ST, RS, and Mustangs. Still huge enthusiasts but the mix of product portfolio drove a need for change in our products,” Mark Wilson, North America directory for accessories, explained to Ford Authority Executive Editor, Alex Luft, in a recent interview.
Ford Accessories have proven to be a lucrative business for the automaker in recent months, as that particular category enjoyed a double digit boost in sales last year. Much of that success is coming from SUV and truck accessories, too. Ford Bronco and Ford Maverick owners are customizing their vehicles “at unprecedented rates,” according to the automaker, with winches and off-road lighting kits proving to be the most popular items of the bunch. In fact, Ford offered owners a 20 percent discount following the Bronco’s 1-2-3 podium sweeping finish at Ultra4’s 2022 King of the Hammers off-road race in February.
With items such as bronze wheels gaining favor among enthusiasts, Ford has added a bevy of off-road-related parts to its catalog in recent months, including Bronco tube door kits and select styles of Method Wheels, while also launching a new accessory discount program for the Bronco and Blue Oval pickups. Given current trends, there will certainly be more to come, too.
