2022 Ford Expedition Rear Seat Entertainment System Now Available

The rear seat entertainment system is now available on the 2022 Ford Expedition on multiple trims.

The refreshed 2022 Ford Expedition entered production in January, but its launch has not been without issues, as the ongoing microchip shortage hampered production several times at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant that is responsible for producing the SUV. In an attempt to minimize the impact of the parts deficit, the automaker has resorted to removing some features, with auto start/stop and the Multicontour seats being the latest victims of this new strategy. Other options, like the transmission underbody shield for the Timberline, have also been pushed back, but it isn’t all bad news on the Expedition front, as the rear seat entertainment system is now available on multiple trims.

Previously a late availability item, the dual-headrest rear seat entertainment system with Amazon Fire TV can now be paired to a wide variety of 2022 Ford Expedition models. The official Ford Accessory is first optional on the XLT High Package 202A equipment group and its counterpart in the Timberline range, the 501A tier. On Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum trims, it can be ordered on any equipment grouping.

The new rear seat entertainment system is a substantial upgrade from the previous units, as it incorporates the Amazon Fire TV 10 into its operation, which allows it to support a large number of high-profile streaming apps. Both HD screens boast 16 gigabytes of storage and can also be used for games and for listening to music. The $1,995 option also includes four-way manually adjustable headrests for the first row occupants.

The 2022 Ford Expedition originally debuted late last year with substantial updates, including the adoption of Sync 4 into the lineup, along with the all-new Timberline trim and Stealth appearance and performance packages. Currently, U.S. dealers have some models in stock, but supply remains limited, and incentives are nonexistent as of this writing.
